Post The Holey Grail
I'm so taken with the revelation that "Grail" means "Crater", as described by Aferrismoon in his article X that Bridge. There should be some kind of award for that, a badge or something. It made me look differently at things like the Monolith's appearance on the Moon in "2001", the Devil's Tower in "Close Encounters", and that "Joe Versus The Volcano" is probably a more interesting movie then it appears on the surface. Aferrismoon's article discusses the crater the protagonists are questing to reach in "Starman". Can any one think of any other pop culture instances where a Crater is treated like a Grail?

Post Re: The Holey Grail
There've been a few disaster movies with volcanoes as protagonists, I'm thinking of some 60/70s one where at least one bad man turned brave slipped lavaward.
I posted that a Judge called joseph Force Crater disappeared in NY in the 30s.
Things tend to fill grails.
Blood-Wine -Water
The Starman movie has the crater filling with a red glow and inside man, woman and child, cheers for nudging me to review it.

In the anime "Akira", the title character generates a nuclear-level explosion, creating a big crater, and then sleeps for 31 years in a cyrogenic chamber underneath it. Bad things happen to tourist's who get lost in the meteor crater "Wolf's Creek". "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" involves Eddie Murphy as the title character searching for a crime lord named Rex Crater, who turns out to be Pluto's clone. "Yomigaeri: Resurrection", a Japanese fantasy film involves missed loved ones returning to life (not in a zombie way), somehow related to a mysterious crater in a forest. In book and film of "Eragon" the title character and company search for rebels called the Varden, whose stronghold is located in the crater of an extinct volcano. "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" involves alien Phantoms who operate on Earth out of a crater. And there's "Dante's Peak" from 1997, released just months before "Volcano". Must be hundreds of movie volcanoes. And don't even get me started on the comic books.

Concave I guess describes Craters, Grails and of course BOWLs. Starts off my Taoist mems - that of water attending to the lowest, I then go to 'humility', getting close to the ground. Its seems we may build our own Graal. Bowls invoke bows and boats, a boats a kind of grail , carrying us within its concave while its convex buoys itself upon the watery. A Bow like a Rainbow looks opposite to the Grail, so for a jump in the philo-etymology I go for Bow-Grail , Covenants and 'reward'.
The grail-crater-volcano imagery proves rewarding in itself due to its strong imagery found in all walks of life, mundane and otherwise.
The Volcano links to Vulcan/Hephaestus - God of 'forging', he who snuk a net over Apollo and venus inflagrante, he limped a bit too. Forging reminds me that one can forger both Empires and Credit cards [ mundane belief systems]
The Grail - Parsifal and other innocents. His crime of shooting the Albatross or Swan [ perhaps it was a penguin] reminds me that innocence isn't 'not doing bad things'. Of course Monty Python and the Holy Grail- Gilliams Fisher King swoop into view.
Crater - plenty of earth ones, Prague sits in a bowl. The Moon , pock-marked over Millenia, takes me to Crater-Face, the pock-marked, diseased remnants of adolesence and the Pox. thus again volcanic, post-eruption. I guess that's Ground or Grail-0. Plenty of blood warmed in the bowl there. Hot enough to forge a New World Order.

So, looking more closely at the very interesting story of Judge Crater, I see that the theater he was to attend the night he disappeared was the Belasco, named for the actor David Belasco. In his list of credits are both a play and a film version of a story called "A Good Little Devil". According to a reviewer named wmorrow59 of Tarry Town, NY, on IMDb:

Quote:
The story concerns a young man of Scottish background named Charles MacLance, who is apparently the victim of pride and a swelled head: he no longer associates with his family, boyhood friends, or the down-home folk from his village, but instead dresses like a titled Englishman and hangs out with haughty aristocrats. Meanwhile, he is missed by his desperately sick mother (played by a man in drag!) and his true love Juliet, a blind girl who cares for the old woman. As Charles sits before his fireplace, brooding, his "conscience" (in the form of his younger self, wearing a kilt) takes visible albeit ghostly form, rising from his body and confronting his corporeal self. Wracked with guilt, he returns to his village, visits the old lady and has an awkward reunion with Juliet. He is also greeted joyfully by the family dog (played by a man capering about on all fours in a dog costume!). Charles' return to the village seems to unleash magical spirits: winged fairies appear and restore Juliet's sight, then restore the old lady to full health. (In the stage production Lillian Gish played one of the fairies, but she's not in the movie.) When Charles' snobby friends come to take him away he renounces them, in fiery words of amusingly purple prose, and chooses to stay with the simple, honest villagers of his youth.

Pickford played Juliet. Belasco apparently appears as himself introducing the story.

The reason I go into this is because I've encountered the name "Belasco" before and wondered about it, as a devilish character in Marvel Comics, usually the X-Men titles. I write a little about him in Magic Blue-et Theory. And I said:

Quote:
As the story goes, the Savage Land was created millions of years in the past by an alien race called the Beyonders (entities separate from the Cosmic Cube born/Secret Wars causing Beyonder) as a kind of zoo. The Savage Land was discovered during the days of ancient Atlantis, and they built a kind of amusement park there, one with a strong resemblance to Hell. In the 13th century Belasco, a Florentine alchemist, made a pact with a race of Lovecraftian "Elder Gods" (a nod no doubt to the Antarctica based "At The Mountains of Madness"). They made him immortal and a powerful sorcerer. In return the now demonic Belasco was to sire a race of Earth-born demons.

He kidnapped Beatrice, the true love of Dante Alighieri, and fled with her to Antarctica, raping and impregnating her on the way. He was pursued by Dante. The chase led them to the Atlantean amusement park in the Savage Land. Dante arrived but was too late to save Beatrice who died in childbirth. Dante and Belasco fought and during their combat a pipe containing some kind of liquid coolant was burst and Belasco was frozen solid, and subsequently buried in an earthquake. Dante returned to Florence and loosely recounted the tragic adventure as part of his epic poem (in which Lucifer is depicted frozen in the bottom Circle of Hell).

Hundreds of years later Ka-Zar and his companions discovered the amusement park while exploring the Savage Land, and found the immortal Belasco had revived. Belasco determined that Shanna was the reincarnation of Beatrice and decided to make her his new bride. Ka-Zar, of course, managed to save Shanna. For his failure, Belasco was punished by the Elder Gods, cast into the timeless dimension called the Otherplace or Limbo. Belasco next appeared in the pages of the X-Men when he kidnapped the aforementioned Illyana Rasputin, seemingly because her mutant ability allowed her to directly enter and exit Limbo. The X-Men pursued through circular portals between worlds.

Apparently X-Men from more then one reality did this and one group became lost in Limbo for many years, during which time Wolverine and Colossus were killed. Nightcrawler was eventually corrupted by Belasco and became the sorcerer's lackey. The X-Men from the "regular" continuity managed to escape however (with the help of the alternate Storm who had become a powerful sorceress in her own right), but lost hold of Illyana just as they were exiting Limbo. They managed to grab hold of her again but when they did they found that she had aged several years. In that time she had been trained as an apprentice of Belasco, eventually overthrowing him and becoming the new ruler of Limbo.

This story was further related to Nightcrawler years later in the pages of "Excalibur", involving his foster mother Margali and his girlfriend Amanda/Jimaine in overtly complicated ways (Winding Ways). Then in Alex Ross and Jim Kreuger's alternate Marvel future story line Earth X, which is not considered canonical, Belsaco was revealed to have originally been a time-displaced Nightcrawler who had lost his memory and morality, and gained a similar but different hued form, due to a deal he made with Mephisto (the same devilish entity with whom Marvel had Spider-Man recently make a deal). So again we have the pure-hearted Nightcrawler turned into a tool for an evil plot. In this case a Mephistian Candidate.

Keeping in mind the X-Man Nightcrawler, a blue devil who teleports. A Good Little Devil for certain.

Trying to determine the meaning of the name "Belasco" we have Bel for Beautiful or Good and Asco, a bag or wine skin, from the Greek Askos, which Answers.com defines as:

Quote:
Asymmetrical pottery vessel, often duck-shaped, with one handle and its mouth off-centre. The form was common in the Aegean Bronze Age from early Helladic times and through into the classical period.

Which is neat as it incorporates the Thoth-ish Duck to the matter. So Belasco is the Good Vessel.

Interesting that Crater left from a vacation in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, where he left his wife Stella Mance. Belgrade Lakes named for the White City, whose Lakes must be beautiful. Bel is also Lord, from the ever interesting Ba'al, making Belasco no less then the Cup of the Lord.

Fine research.
The Good Little Devil- 1913 - The Fed was installed.
Is Good Little Devil a play on GoLD.
Craters disappearence seems more of bottomless pit, guess thats the way with searching for the holey one, falling into bottomless pits.
Belasco D., seems to be one of those rags-to-riches stories. The address of his theatre is 111 West 44th street.
111 = ALPh which stands for A, while 44 = DM - blood, A+DM = ADM

The grail is also a metaphor for implosion. Monatomic gold was and is ingested for generating mini black holes in the blood "plasma".
The chalice cup is also a reference to the half sphere of sky over our head.
To implode in one's own DNA is to use the magnetic spiral of DNA as the communication device that it is and travel via consciousness to the stars.
Dan Winter has numerous animations showing how Implosion occurs. He lives in Southern France, the biblical grail ( Mary Magdalene / Jesus lineage ) country of Cathar ancestry.

Sang greal, means blood royal or singing blood, or G-real - the mayan G is a CCW vortex, a feminine doorway ( to chase the grail is to be compassionate, to realize our feminine half, to a knight ).

What are the latest high tech weapons - Rail guns? G-rail guns?
Using a magnetic field powered by electricity, a rail gun can accelerate a projectile up to 52,493 feet (16,000 meters) per second. And while current Navy guns have a maximum range of 12 miles, rail guns can hit a target 250 miles away in six minutes.

I went to 'movies tagged with crater' , just one - Starman.
While journeying found THE CRATER LAKE MONSTER , very definitely B-Move.
Meteor crashes into Crater lake , Oregon, heats up a dinosaur egg, which hatches and kills.

Holy Grail = Hg = Mercury

I came across the Crater Lake Monster as well, and from the description it sounds like the monster in question is very Nessie-like. Nessie and her lake monster ilk (we have one not far from where I live that reportedly lives in Lake Champlain) are good at hiding, and have been unsuccessfully quested for by many seekers.

And speaking of Gilliam and Hephaestus, in the wonderful "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen", the Baron and company are expelled from the moon by a John the Baptist resonating Robin Williams, and they fall to the Earth, winding up at the volcano/forge/kingdom of Vulcan. Also in residence at this crater is Vulcan's wife Venus (Uma Thurman), introduced in a lovely recreation of Botticelli's "Birth of Venus", which is You-Tubed here. And just in case we miss the Goddess inside the Grail, it is a dual role for Uma, and her other character's name is Rose. The next adventure has the Baron and company swallowed by a whale/sea monster/leviathan, which seems interesting to me for some reason.

Re: MerKey's idea of imploding DNA + your picture of the man [ Flag?] jumping into the Dinosaur's mouth + the Sauron-Serpent in the Garden of Eden I get the idea that DNA = the serpent/lizard which we will jump into and further our develpment.
Bit vague I realize, but tantaliizing.
There did appear a little impatient jealousy in Rob Williams role.
now u mention it Fisher King/ John the Baptist . The dish on which his head is on , grail-like?
