Finally, after a long night of going through chat clients from hell with blinking lights, annoying beeps, ads and God-awful designs, I finally found what I was looking for.

To join the chat, go here:
Edit: IRC-chat is deleted. There's a new chat on the bottom of the page.

It can take a couple of seconds before you're logged in, be patient.

The client I installed is called CGI:IRC and it is a CGI-script running locally on the Synchromysticism Forum server.
It connects to the Blitzed IRC-network.
The channel you are transported to while logging in is called #Synchromysticism and is registered on me.

The client is easy to use. You don't need to register or download any software, just choose a nick and login..

If you want to register your nick in order to prevent someone else from "nicking" it hehe, then just enter the command /msg NickServ REGISTER *passwordhere* *E-mail here*
You'll receive a confirmation E-mail with instructions on how to confirm.
For some reason I had to do this procedure twice.

The sounds doesn't seem to work unfortunately, but that's not the most important function, so it's OK.

I'm very glad I finally found this simple, but effective client.
See you in the chat.

The Chat-button will come up as soon as I learn how to change the top menu. This announcement will be active for 10 days.

To join #Synchromysticism through your own IRC-client, see this list of Blitzed servers:

And of course the chat is synching. How could I miss that.
The logo of the Blitzed IRC-network is a goat/Baphomet.

And check out the date when the CGI-script I use was released.. Good ol' 666.

Ha! That's funny. I was going to donate 66.6 euros just as a joke, but Paypal used a different figure for money conversion than the standard and when i saw the total in us dollars i got squeamish.

Anyway, that chat is very slow for me. Maybe location has something to do with it? I remember IRC from back in the day and I tried to use some basic commands... /list took forever. I thought it had just ignored me till a long while later it came back with the channel listings. /clear even takes time to register. Very big delay.

No noises though :)
(Although I wouldn't mind one for when people enter the room)

Is it unbearable slow even when you're in the channel?

It's just an experiment, if it doesn't work OK, I'll find something else.

Yup. Even in the channel.
And just getting there takes a long hike too.

Here's a list of browsers CGI:IRC works with (as you can see it's kinda old):
Quote:
Browser Works?
Mozilla (netscape 6) Javascript interface works except some shortcut keys and pop-out formating buttons.
Netscape 4.x Works - using non-js interface
Mozilla Firefox 1.0 Works perfectly
Mozilla Firefox 1.5 Works perfectly
Internet Explorer >= 6 Fully works
Internet Explorer >= 5 (Almost) Fully works
Older Versions of Internet Explorer Not tested
Opera <=7 Works with non-js interface but some scrolling problems
Opera 8+ Works OK. Opera 9 is better, even works with Opera on Nintendo Wii!
KDE Konqueror Konqueror 3 works with 0.5.2+, konqueror 3.2 works better
Safari Works on recent versions. Had problems with streaming, however Safari 2 (i.e. Mac OSX Tiger) and Safari 1.3 (to some extent) are reported to support it (it seems to be related the CFNetwork loader, this can be changed in the Debug menu (by disabling the Simple Loader), unfortunately the changes aren't remembered).
Safari on iPhone Works, although cannot see channel while typing due to keyboard hiding it. See a picture.
Links Works (amazingly)
Nokia 3650 Reportedly works!
Windows Mobile 2003 IE Works, although there are scrolling and focus issues (and the screen is too small)

What browser do you run KindaGamey?

We'll wait and see if we can get some more comments about how it works from some more people, and if we can rule out any specific browser..

For me it runs smoothly (without sound) on Firefox 3.0.4

Cool idea. I'm just responding in the hopes that I make the 2222'nd post. :D (I think it said this forum board was at 2221 when I opened it up.)

I was using the latest Firefox and it has always sucked for me.

Here is the mIRC client I've just downloaded:
http://www.mirc.com/
(It used to be free, but I think I clicked '30 day trial' the dirty buggers)

Here are the settings:
#synchromysticism on irc.blitzed.org , port 6667

Now it seems to be much faster, but nobody is around.
